hello, readers.
this one time i had an idea that i would put a page here, with advice about things that i do. except i don't know how to implement pages, maybe this template ca-
... nevermind, i missed the "edit pages" button, 5 cm to the right of the "new post" button.
so anyway, i woke up quite early today. and i decided to stay up anyway, because i felt that sleep was not to be returned to. and i realised the real key to sleeping earlier and waking up earlier. use an alarm. yeah, forgot about that for some reason. i'm going to set it to 10AM everyday, and wake up at 10am, every day.
i woke up early today and decided to eat cereal.
not with milk, though. with ham.
it was alright. i think i'm sick of ham now, which is great because there's none left. did i mention that there was also coke? yeah. breakfasts.
don't worry, i ended up eating real food later.
my fingertips kind of hurted a bit, which was odd, because i haven't even played the piano that much. maybe like 2 hours, max. maybe it's all the dust embedded into the piano keys or something. lesson tomorrow. i hope she doesn't mind that i didn't try to fix my technique. i'm going to play it my way, with the dynamics. i think it shouldn't be too bad. i should probably learn general knowledge. i summarised it all into a sheet (which is what i did for the theory exam, it's a lot easier to learn this way). for mozart's allegro, there are like 3 main parts of the song - the exposition, the development, and the recapitulation. so it's kind of like ternary form, except each of those parts are split into like 100 sub-parts, which i'm not going to remember. actually, for some reason i do. exposition modulates from bflat major to f major (dominant key), the development goes from f major to f minor to g minor, and then the recapitulation returns the piece to the tonic, b flat major. i doubt they'd ask that, though. the closest question i can think of is "describe the structure of the piece" and i'll just say there's 3 main parts, kind of like a ternary. sorry, i think none of that would have made sense to you guys. here's the song if you would like to listen to it.
far out, that guy's so good. but he sways weirdly while playing. it seems like all good piano players sway. i don't understand it. maybe it helps them play or something.
so yeah, now i feel pretty bad about piano. oh well, it's not like they expect people to play half as good as that guy.
when i played piano for the first time today, my arms were pretty tense. and my fingers didn't work. and it made me realise, that you aren't always physically "in the zone". i probably get it from sitting in front of the computer concentrating intently all day, so all the blood rushes away from my arms and legs.
anyway it made me realise why i haven't been writing 1.1k essays anymore. it's because before each exam, i'm not physically in the zone. especially the texts in tandem one. i had the same tense arm thing. and it makes my writing terribler, and slower. the whole test, i remember i was thinking WHY AM I WRITING SO SLOWLY, WHATS WRONG WITH MY ARM.
and then it was 5 mins left and i skipped half of my 4th paragraph, and everything turned out fine because i cheated off the cheat sheet. english exams are pretty hard without those things.
so anyway, 5-10 minutes before a test (especially of the instrumental or english variety), make sure you have blood circulating to your arms and wrists. This can be done by flailing your arms while doing finger tendon exercises.
also i decided that i would try my new glasses to play piano, and i don't know if it was placebo, but they somehow helped a lot. suddenly my arpeggios were better (but still very very subpar). i guess seeing the keys slightly more sharply lets your brain have more confidence in placing your hand in the right position on the keys.
so yes, i'm supposed to wear my old glasses for the computer, but whenver there's a tournament or i have to play piano, i'll use these ones.
yep. 11:45. all good.
yep, pages, 11:57.
also i am very jealous of people who have naturally perfect vision. it's like having glasses, without having glasses. wow, that's so awesome
oh and stuff daniel likes... i dunno, can't think of any within 4 seconds. how about the music genre of shoegaze?
yeah, sure. shoegaze, enjoy.
Blue Sky Black Death, Noir.
day9 made me do it.
how about this? 1 minute, pretty epic joke-swearing. not safe for work. also extremely starcraft related.
""What what the the fuck fuck my fuck fuckin what what with the drop-drop ship medivac where in the what in the hell?""

I realized, all good pianists have an intense piano face. (I should watch my sister play one day lol, she has an upcoming exam too)
Actually, there's this guy at my church who has a good crazy piano face and involuntary swaying, I shall link you a video so you can learn your own piano face and look pro.

Swaying may allow for reaching other keys better? =3
