Life is like a ladder. Not one of those ladders that have rungs and that, but one of those ladders where you get points, and climb to the top of the ladder by winning points, and fall to the bottom by losing points. Sometimes you lose more than you win, and you fall ranks despite your efforts.
I'm pretty excited about esports growing. Today was the first day of BlizzCon, it's like a convention for the company Blizzard, that makes pretty nice games. And they held the Global Starcraft League finals for october there, and that was pretty amazing.
Here is the crowd that watched, in ONE of the rooms (the main one).
(careful this one is quite loud) Here is the crowd reaction to MMA, the underdog but crowd favourite (he's more well known outside of korea than his opponent), when he took the series 4-1 (best of 7).
And there were some pretty good parts of the award ceremony,
1:40 for a crowd of thousands chanting MMA.
"It is truely an honour to win such a huge tournament, and also all of the fans chanting my name, forever i will keep this in my mind, i willn ever forget it" he says when they finish cheering for him
10:37 for the korean translator's quick speech about esports pride (the crowd is so nice, they gave a huge cheer for him when he had a mind blank on the spot, and said "sorry i'm nervous")
It just occured to me that the odds are you can't be bothered, and I guess I don't really blame you.
"well, many of my friends or my parents will say "it's just a game, john, quit it", but, being here today, people from all over the world being together and sharing this moment, it's something that politics or money can't do, it's a miracle, and -
(cut off by crowd cheering)
- and it's so very easy for people like us who is doing the production to forget that we just provide the tools, and it is actually the fans who make the esports. Really, thank you for reminding me that, and if anyone ever doubts your passion for esports, you tell them you were here in 2011 BlizzCon and you watched GSL final, thank you very much, i love you all"
(crowd cheers, seriously this might be the best crowd i have ever seen, i watched all 3 hours of this and they were so enthustiastic throughout everything (even the technical problems which delayed like 20 minutes))
sorry, esports.
wait, no.
Hell yeah, esports!
I can't wait to go into uni. Because that's the time in my life when I will have the most time in my life, and that's also the time when esports will start becoming part of everyday life for not-just-nerds.
i like how it can bring together so many different people. it's like sports, except people cheer on their favourites despite any nationality differences.
also, if you didn't watch any of those, you're killing esports!
i like that. i like when they say tweet #GSL, or you're killing esports.
i wish i was better, though. i won't really be satisfied until i'm travelling around to attend relatively big tournaments, and expected to win. maybe one day, that will happen. but that day cannot come unless i get a proper keyboard.
speaking of keyboards, it's been a while since i have played the piano. it's strange having saturdays free. but it's also really nice having no obligations to do anything (i'm saving my maths homework for triple free periods tomorrow).
i realised my guitar technique is pathetic.
it's a similar thing to my piano technique being pathetic. It was a consequence of me always playing on muted volume because i felt that it was too loud. The problem with muting the piano is, it distorts the sound, and you don't know how it will really sound when you play it unmuted. So you don't really have differences in touch and tone, you only have notes and note values.
same thing for guitar. i always play without the amplifier, and when i try it with the amplifier it sounds terrible.
well, time to play without the amplifier. it's too loud, otherwise.
sometimes i wonder if i should be caring about school, when listening to what other people are up to. i guess i can work on my chem prac book or something, I got my second B, as well. oh no.
oh i should also contact the books which have yet to be contacted. they're all going to end up like my ext 2 theory book, which has quite literally no bubbles.
