The Pretender

nervousness isn't a bad thing.

it might even be a good thing

because you only get nervousness for the first few times you do something. nervousness is exploring. nervousness is experience. and the reason we are born without experience is so life isn't boring. imagine keeping all of your memories and experience for the next life. you wouldn't do anything.

saw an ad for kings today. it was a pretty good ad. i can understand why people would think private schools are the best. it's cos they have money

i am so tired of losing games i shouldn't lose. idra often gets frustrated (or at least he used to) when he loses a game that the opponent didn't deserve to win. people make fun of him for that, but it's that frustration that has driven him. im feeling the same.

anger isn't a bad thing

anger is action. sometimes the wrong action. but anything is better than no action (that's not true, but i don't care)

you're right I've noticed that too - I don't mind losing to higher rated players on chess.com that much because I think "oh they're high rated, they probably deserve to win" but if I lose to a 1600 I will be irritated.

And every time I beat a higher rated player I think to myself "wow they should have really won that, they just made xx mistake", and "that was luck"

Perhaps it's because I have more respect for the higher rated players

same reason some people join religions, a guarantee of success. sort of. easier than being smart and hell, your friends will be millionaire's sons and future el presidentes. so yes.

(Thanks, Harvard)
