Start A War

today i didn't biphasic sleep and it felt horrible because i slept at 3 woke up at 1 that's 10 hours i could have had 4 extra hours today sigh

I liked the NSW facebook page and it's so weird now with public service announcements and posts about crime sandwiched between jokes and memes. It says a lot about society where we can laugh at this and mourn that ten seconds later.
-----
I don't think it's respectful to read about a school shooting and a stabbing that happened in the same day, feel bad, and then completely forget about it 30 seconds later. But I think a lot of people do it. We can offer messages of sympathy and share bad news but we don't actually care. We can move on straight away while others have their entire lives ruined, because moving on from the death of your 5 year old isn't possible. It makes me wonder what the worst age someone could die is. Dying at 5 is definitely worse than 1. Dying at 5 is probably worse than at 25. Maybe 14? Whatever

I have nothing against this because if the misfortune of strangers brings you down for even a few days, you're going to be sad for all of your waking hours.

In reality, these things don't affect us.

And of course it's a day of sharing opinions, well, not sharing but more projecting opinions over the internet and thinking that it makes a difference.

dear most people,
your opinion sucks,
~

I haven't been following or reading much about what other people think because it doesn't really matter, but it seems that a lot of people are like "why do you even have guns they're so dangerous. america u so silly stupid"
without considering that guns were the means of this disaster, not the reason

Proof is that the same thing happened in china with knives, check the above link

But then it's true that it's not as lethal with knives than it is with guns. That is, it's a lot easier to kill with guns than knives.

But what about everyday crime, as opposed to ... these events.
Refer to this forum post. The statistics are probably all BS, but they carry a certain degree of truth. If you don't want to read that, it's pretty much summed up with "if you're a criminal you don't wanna mess with someone that has a gun. You are more scared of armed victims than the police"

And there was a post before that if you really like wasting your time [well maybe waste isn't the right word], that can be summarised as "the statistics people use to say that guns are bad are stupid, this is why".

It presented a counter statistic "You are twice as likely to be stabbed in the UK than you are to be shot in the US"

Personally i hate statistics because a lot of the time they are skewed and a lot of the time if you just ask "i wonder how they got this statistic in the first place" you wouldn't be able to find an answer. I made a post about 'statistics suck' before, maybe I should find it.

There were multiple ones, without grammar because sometimes i don't do that and i really shouldn't like right now this isn't easy to read.

Let's play a game. Can you figure out what is wrong with the following statistics?

"on average up to the age of 18 people see 20000 murders"

"on average it takes 10 mins for a car to fill up an airtight garage with carbon monoxide"

"Lightning is 7 times more likely to strike men."

"People who routinely consume fast food are 51% more likely to suffer from depression."

"A full-grown tree produces enough oxygen to support a family of 4."

"It costs 1.7 billion to produce a space ship and $450 million to actually launch it."

"Cat owners are actually 30% less likely to have a heart attack."

"Women have an average of 4 partners during their lifetime; men have an average of 7."

If you answered "they're all complete bullshit", you win!!!! ^^ ~

The last one might seem legit, but the ratio of women to men in the world has to be 7:4 for that to be true. The fault in the statistic itself stems from women lying, in actuality it should average to be something like 5:5 but maybe men and women lie because apparently it's good for men to have many partners and women to have fewer.

Or maybe the mean number of women's partners is 4, that is, maybe some women have like 10000 partners but the majority have 4, and the survey only covered certain demographics of people.

I guess this one would be possible "People who routinely consume fast food are 51% more likely to suffer from depression."

anyway this is stupid

I also didn't biphasic sleep today. Well, I guess I did except my main chunk of sleep was 7.5 hours instead of 4.5. Oh well

sometimes brendan comments with many things that make sense. that's cool

i like to think that i say things that make sense too. but there's a lot of crap between the things that make sense.

we have a lot in common,
